Even though I’m not the most organized person by nature, I pride myself on the productivity skills I’ve built up over the course of my audio career.
But believe me, It wasn’t easy and I learned all of my lessons the hard way.
Spending too much on microphones, preamps and plugins that made a 0% improvement in my mixes…
Running a disorganized, cluttered “studio” that repelled any serious band like the plague…
Name any typical amateur hour recording mistake and I’ve probably made it.
Luckily, things are different now.
These days I totally geek out over achieving top-notch results regardless of the limited space I’m working in or the minimal amount of gear that I have on hand.
I focus only on what matters.
I prefer to run a LEAN business utilizing only what’s absolutely necessary while simultaneously being the most efficient audio engineer that the band has ever worked with.
Creating a light, stress-free environment for the artist is extremely important to me and the way I utilize my gear (or lack thereof) has a lot to do with it.
It doesn’t matter if it’s in my budget project studio, a basement, a garage or at a music venue, my approach is the same…to get the hell out of the way and let the band do their thing.
In this video, I reveal my new-and-improved mobile recording rig and how I’ll be using it for my upcoming projects this year.
*Warning* I get extremely granular in the video, so only watch if you REALLY want to know the ins and outs of my mobile recording setup. If not, this video isn’t for you.
