Most mixing tricks should be avoided if you want actual pro-level results.
Are you using sidechain compression?
What about stereo widening?
Getting a little carried away with the good ol’ parallel compression??
I know that these are all very popular mixing tricks that you’ll hear about all over YouTube. The problem is that if you’re using them in any way, they’re probably doing more harm than good.
It might sound crazy, but it’s 100% true.
You can only achieve pro-level results by learning to cut out all of the useless crap and by focusing your attention on the few (very few) aspects of mixing that ACTUALLY MATTER.
