My favorite pieces of (cheap) home studio gear

Fact: You do not need expensive home studio gear or a perfect room to produce 100% professional results with your music.

I can’t believe that I’m STILL trying to convince people to not waste their money on unnecessary gear 17 years after starting my original studio.

My original project studio was run off of:

A 2006 Macbook Pro with 2 gigs of ram, a consumer-grade Digi002 Firewire interface and cheap Samson microphone pack. That’s it.

Even back then, I used to mix entirely in the box with no outboard gear.

My dingy project studio was constantly booked recording bands and my “cheap” gear never held me back in the slightest.

If I could do it in 2006 (with that gear) when I didn’t know what I was doing…ANYONE CAN DO IT TODAY.

A basic laptop, inexpensive monitors, USB interface and handful of microphones are all you need to record a professional album…I don’t care how bad your environment is.

I’m hellbent on proving this to the world and that’s why today I’m kicking off my brand new series on YouTube:

Frightbox Goes Guerrilla

In this new YouTube series, we’ll be crafting pro-level productions using simple, utilitarian pieces of recording gear within unexpected environments.

In this first official episode of Frightbox Goes Guerrilla , I share some of my favorite pieces of inexpensive home studio gear that I’m currently using in my makeshift basement studio.

Also, as my gift to you , you can have immediate access to the brand new Frightbox Essential Gear Guide

The PDF guide lists the gear that I use to run my recording business. It’s perfect if you’re currently in the market for new gear for your studio.

It features everything you need and nothing you don’t.
