You can never have enough home studio microphones..
Or can you?
As a recovering gear addict, I’ve learned to get the most bang for my buck with VERY simple tools.
Not only do I prefer simple tools, but I prefer to use as few of them as possible.
My microphone collection is a prime example of this.
In my latest video, I run through all of the home studio microphones that I use on a daily basis when working with hard rock and metal bands.
Using only a handful of microphones hasn’t stopped me from delivering results that make my clients happy and returning to my studio year after year…
And it won’t stop you from getting great results within your own home studio.
All you need are a few basic microphones to get the job done right.
Fancy pants, expensive microphones are nice…but definitely not necessary to make killer recordings.
The source, along with microphone placement, are both infinitely more important than the mics themselves.
A great sounding production comes from solid techniques and workflows…not gear.
Remember, always move a mic before reaching for an EQ!
