Why The Wrong Impulse Response Will Result In Bad Heavy Guitar Tone

Using the wrong impulse response WILL result in bad heavy guitar tone.

Most guitar players and engineers alike focus on the wrong elements when dialing in a guitar tone in the studio.

The impulse response you choose to use can make or break your guitar tone.

Fancy guitar sim plugins..

The Axe FX..

Kemper..

All of them are useless if you’re using an impulse response that wasn’t captured right at the source.

Switching out your impulse response is analogous to switching to a different cab and mic placement.

As you know, utilizing a different cab can have just as much of an impact on your tone as a different head.

The same can be said about mic placement.

An impulse response is a “snapshot” of a particular cab and mic placement. As a result, it can completely transform your guitar tone.

In this video, I explain why using the right impulse response is EVERYTHING when it comes to dialing in a good metal guitar tone with your amp sim.

Avoid using the wrong impulse response in your recordings!
