Stop overcomplicating your metal guitar routing!
In my opinion, simplicity is one of the great big secrets behind successfully mixing metal guitars.
I often see (and have been guilty of myself) people doing all sorts of crazy stuff to their metal guitar tracks within their DAWs..
Too many plugins..
Unnecessary, overly complex routing..
Inefficient use of effects..
There’s no reason to reinvent the wheel and overcomplicate the mixing process.
This mindset and habit will, more often than no, hurt your progress as a mixer. I know, I spent years stuck in this trap.
The more complicated you make your routing becomes..
And the more processing you add to your guitar tracks..
The worse off your mix usually is.
As a matter of fact, the longer that I work in this field, the simpler my process becomes.
My approach to guitar mixing is no exception. I keep my metal guitar routing as simple as possible (while allowing me to be efficient).
In my latest tutorial, I get right to the point and show you my approach for metal guitar routing when mixing in my DAW.
