5 Mistakes Local Bands Make In The Studio

There are many mistakes local bands make when hitting the studio for the first time.

I’ve been there..

Absolutely PUMPED to hit the local studio with my band after months working our asses off writing an EP.

Day 1: Drums

..well…that didn’t go as planned. 😂

Instead of capturing killer drum takes and sounds, we ended up fighting with our drummer over how fast or slow the tempos should be for each song.

It also became apparent that he couldn’t play to a click in the studio.

In other words: We wasted an entire day’s worth of studio time and not to mention a lot of money.

We were also less than stoked when we got our final mix back.

After months spent in the studio…our EP sounded NOTHING like the reference mixes we sent our engineer.

Well, after 16 years of producing professionally myself, I can look back on the experience and admit that everything that went wrong was 100% our own fault.

In this video, I go over the top 5 most common mistakes local bands make in the studio.
