Having trouble getting your metal or hardcore bass tones to sit right in the mix? In this video, I show you how I mix heavy bass within a metal production.
I’ll be sharing tips on how to get your metal bass tracks sitting right in your super dense/busy metal productions.
I’ve found that the trick is to not overcomplicate things when you mix heavy bass tracks.
You don’t need a high end bass amp or fancy preamps.
As a matter of fact, you don’t even need to bother with microphones at all.
All you need is a freshly strung bass that’s plugged directly into an interface or DI box.
The bass you’re using doesn’t even matter as much as you’d think (as long as it’s properly intonated).
As long as you’ve recorded a quality bass DI, you’re more than halfway there.
There are key areas you’re gonna wanna focus in on and I share all of them with you in the tutorial.
There’s no reason to make things complicated. I accomplish my bass mixing using nothing more than simple EQ and compression techniques.
