You’ve probably heard by now that most professional metal producers record DI tracks when recording heavy guitar tracks metal guitars.
But the question is do you need a DI box to record DI tracks?
Is it a necessary piece of gear that you must have in your home studio?
I’ve found that there’s some confusion going on out there with up-and-coming producers when it comes to this topic.
Some people aren’t quite sure about what a “DI track” actually is..
Plugging your Line 6 Pod straight into your interface is NOT the same thing as recording a DI.
And others are under the impression that DI boxes are necessary for capturing quality DI tracks in the first place.
The truth is that it’s much simpler than people think and in most cases, you don’t need a DI box.
In my latest video, I dive in deep on the topic of recording heavy guitar tracks with DI’s. Hopefully it will give you some clarity on this often misunderstood topic.
